Heart
In the hollow nights I wandered,
through corridors of melancholy,
where each sunset brought salt to my eyes,
and darkness fed on my solitude.
I was a child of broken promises,
collecting wounds like autumn leaves,
believing love was a distant shore where others sailed, but never I.
Until you - like sudden rain in desert lands,
like the first breath of morning.
You drew me from that shadowland where I had made my dwelling,
into light that spills like honey,
into air that tastes of possibility.
Now this earth, once barren,
blooms beneath your footsteps.
Your love transforms stone to bread,
absence to abundance.
If time were clay in my hands,
I would shape it around your form.
If lives were seeds I could plant,
I would grow them all toward you.
If souls could choose their harbor,
mine would anchor in your waters.
You alone are my compass.
You are my perpetual spring.
You, my love,
my answered prayer.
