Haku
I was about to transfer some of my files from Haku (my netbook) so that I can give it to the kids in the publication. However, I was shocked to realize the screen was blank. I tried to remove the battery thinking that it was just a mere software glitch. But nothing happened and it came to me that after four years of service, Haku was gone.
I bought Haku in 2011 and I've attached so much memories into this tiny netbook. For one, Haku was the first major gadget purchase I made during the first year of being employed. I can still remember how elated I was opening a brown eco box that housed him.
Also, my first serious romantic relationship helped me in finding him. His sudden demise tonight somehow felt like the very last connection I had with her vanished. Maybe that is why I feel so strongly about this. I am a very sentimental person and this kind of realization saddens me.
Haku has served me well especially through all of those countless presentations and heaps of papers I needed to submit throughout the course of Graduate School.
The numerous hours of watching series and movies. Photos edited and blogposts published. Needless to say, Haku has served his purpose but like other things in life, they simply go away no matter how hard or diligent you are in protecting them.
Haku is a reminder of who I was and the struggles I had to endure despite my meekness and smallness in the grand scheme of things.
Haku will be a reminder that moving forward is the only thing left and some things should be laid to rest.
