Movie Notes: Taken 3 (2015)

We've watched the third installment of the action movie Taken starring Liam Neeson and directed by Olivier Megaton last Sunday while the rain was pouring and most people are in Luneta for the concluding mass of Pope Francis.

Taken 3 picks up from the previous installments of the movie. Similar to the movie series Hostel, it left its European location for the US. The plot centers on the brutal murder of Bryan Mills' (Liam Neeson) ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen). He was framed for the murder and went on to find the real killers, notwithstanding he was being pursued by the CIA, FBI and the police headed by an equally cunning Franck Dotzier (Forest Whitaker).

The movie was entertaining in most parts and the movie score was memorable. However, there were plot holes and absurd storylines - like the one where he gave a nausea inducing drink to his daughter for them to be able to meet in a public restroom, the complexity of the task was so absurd that we chuckled. The action scenes were exciting and imaginative in my standards and Neeson still has his charisma in the action genre. But the question after the movie for me was, how can someone cause that much carnage and blood and just leave without any liability?

I think this is the last for now, though I am curious how they will be able to stretch the franchise for a fourth movie considering the turn of events in this third movie.

Well he has a specific set of skills, maybe writing a good storyline is one of them.

I wish the Phoenix force was still with Jean Grey so she could come back to life though... Oh wait, wrong movie.

2/3 - Good-ish Movie.
