Steel and Glass Towers of Hong Kong

Our 4 day stay in the former British Colony was awe-inspiring with the marvels of skyscrapers nestled in a deep green natural harbor. Hong Kong is a city teeming with people in the backdrop of awe-inspiring marvels of steel and glass towers.

Coming from a country with terrible traffic and inefficient mass transport system,  I appreciate so much the efficiency and convenience of our neighbor's transportation system. Mostly buses and networks of trains were the main mass transport system.

On our way from the airport to Tsim Tsam Tsui I had the chance to see the different faces of this city from a two deck bus.  There were beautiful skyscrapers but there still stood old structures probably downtown which reminds me much of Binondo.

We stayed mostly in Tsim Tsam Tsui, which is a cape pointing towards the Victoria Harbor giving it a panoramic perspective of the skyline of Hong Kong island. There were a lot of high-end shops conveniently stretching its streets and some architectural marvels lined up such as Hong Kong Cultural Center, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Space Museum  and Avenue of Stars.

Tsim Tsam Tsui in Kowloon
One of the most densely populated metropolis in the world Hong Kong is teeming mostly of tourists as can be seen from the diversity of people you will come across in the streets.

Shops in the area offered relatively cheaper beauty products, perfumes and some brands of chocolates.

We waited for the world-famous Symphony of Lights show in the Avenue of Stars. This tourist spot which opened in 2004 provides a panoramic view of Victoria Harbor and a path walk with statues and stars dedicated to Hong Kong's movie icons similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The city bathes in lights from its towers to the passing cruise ships and vessels in the Harbor. This was a feast to the eyes and one could watch the harbor for hours end.

There were live bands, street performers and even at night the city was alive with tourists all over the place.

There is so much to see in this vibrant city and our first day with a few hours to spare was a perfect warm up for the coming days of exploring it.

Cheers!
