COMMENTARY
The new film, directed by Kenneth Branagh brings us a live action adaptation of Cinderella, a tale we have known as kids. We all know what will happen with Ella and the story didn't deviated much from the version of the story that we have grown to love which was honestly good. It's beauty lies in the simplicity of the story which is different from the fragmented and dark adaptations of kid's tales these days. This is coherent with values it tries to share to the audience of modesty, courtesy and simplicity.
What was interesting and noteworthy with this adaptation though is that it explored more on the underlying circumstances and personality of the characters. Case in point the cruelty of the evil stepmother who have was debilitated by fear of rejection, being left out and jealousy.
The cast were amazing with Lilly James' as the timid and frisky Ella and Kate Blanchett's passively aggressive portrayal of tehe evil stepmother.
In summary, the movie was good and it's sentimentality of old fashioned storytelling would be enough for people to watch.
