Movie Notes: Minions (2015)

The Minions are back and this time they have their own movie. This prequel to the series shows us the life of the Minions before Gru. From single-celled yellow organisms to their search for their ultimate evil villain mastermind to serve. Their search for their master only led to disasters and they soon find themselves living a monotonous and with no purpose life that leads them to depression. But Kevin proposes a plan to find their new evil boss and he tags along Stuart and Bob to their journey. Their journey led them to the world's first ever super villainess Scarlet Overkill who immediately captivates our Minions and makes them determined to get her favor by following her demands. This leads to obviously catastrophic events and comedic mishaps.

It has a great set of big Hollywood names in its roster of voice talents in the likes of Sandra Bullock, Michael Keaton , John Hamm and Steve Carrel. Some fell flat on a few scenes but this again is overshadowed by the cuteness of the Minions.

This prequel to the Despicable Me movies (as it says this is set in the time before Gru) is probably more potent for kids more than the adults in terms of its comedy. I must say that whenever we watch a Despicable movie before, there were hordes of screaming children whenever these yellow critters start with their cute antics. It's a movie starring the Minions and their goofy, cute and endearing effect is enough to draw people and watch them making it a blockbuster. It was made for kids as the formula of its slapstick comedy - explosions, slight physical and of course a heavy dose of cuteness from our little fellows.

This movie is made for kids and if you want one to be happy, go watch it!
