Movie Notes: 'Hitman: Agent 47' Missed Its Target (2015)
Adding to the slew of assassin movies, Hitman: Agent 47 is disappointingly dull compared to other movies in its genre.
PLOT
Katia
Van Dess (Hannah Ware) is looking for his father and caught in a
crossfire between a mega corporation planning to use her to find his
father to clone an army of genetically engineered superhumans and an
Agent 47 who is out on a mission.
MOVIE NOTES
Hitman:
Agent 47 has strained the clichés of its genre with senseless violence,
averting world domination and not so subtle product placements. Based
on an action RPG game, this feature is the second of Hitman movies that
has hit the big screens.
The
action scenes were sleek and the actors did a fine job especially its
male and female leads in their action scenes. There was enough fire
power to exhilarate and make me cringe during its run. However, the
movie didn't hit the sweet spot to create a strong franchise from a very
successful video game.
It
felt really like watching a video game and a really long Audi
commercial most of the time because it lacked emotions. The characters
personality were dull and probably the most asexual compared to other
movies of its genre and thus it diminished the feeling of danger which
is essential to these kinds of films.
In
summary, there was a disconnect between the movie and the audience
because of the main characters lack of humanity so to speak.
